The foundation of the Startup Port is beyourpilot: With its participating knowledge organisations, the joint project provides the basis for extensive support for knowledge-based start-ups in Hamburg, in particular through personal advice and support for founders with their ideas as well as a comprehensive range of awareness-raising and qualification formats. In addition, beyourpilot gives founders access to expertise and resources in the scientific ecosystem. By establishing association-wide programmes in the metropolitan region, the Startup Port will complement these services in the future in accordance with the motto “promote, qualify and network” and thus serve as a booster for optimal, comprehensive start-up support. The Startup Port bundles the start-up support activities of seven universities and other research institutions from Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein. The resulting offers are aimed at students, researchers and graduates, young start-ups, but also established companies.
With the “Startup Port Week” from 27 to 30 September 2021, the Startup Port opens its doors virtually and presents its programmes and partners with various social media offers. In this way, interested founders can get to know new opportunities and support offers of the joint project directly and at the same time get involved digitally. All relevant topics are covered and extensively presented in short videos via YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter. The films can be played via different Startup Port social media channels or via the hashtag of the day. Each day of the “Startup Port Week” has its own focus:
On Monday (#SPVerbund), the various collaborative institutions of the project introduce themselves one after the other. They explain how the Startup Port supports those interested in starting a business at the respective institutions and what opportunities the Startup Port can create for the start-up ecosystem in the metropolitan region.
On Tuesday and Wednesday (#SPTopics), the concrete activities of the universities and the Startup Port to promote start-ups in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region will be presented.
On Thursday (#SPInspirationalDay), start-ups from the network will have their say and report on their experiences with the Startup Port so far. In the afternoon, there will be a digital start-up simulation game with prize money of 500 euros. In addition, interested start-ups can get to know each other at a “Meet & Match” and find out in a kind of speed dating whether they would be a good team to implement a joint idea.
